Raúl Antonio Martínez Quiroz


Raul Martinez QuirozRaúl Martínez Quiroz (Santiago de Chile, 1978) grew up in Chile and studied at the Technological Metropolitan University. Despite his study in engineering, and his paid work jobs as teacher/educator, he considers himself as an activist who does meaningful paid work to help him finance himself.
His activities related to sexual diversity started in 2004 during a personal turning piont and coming out after several years of religious formation. In 2006 he enrolled an organisation called Accióngay, in which he submitted private and free advice to gay men who required the Elisa-test. In 2010, Amnesty International invited him and he quited his Accióngay activities to start working for AI. That same year however, a strong erthquake hit Chile and Raul Matínez Quiroz was personally affected and became a jobless teacher.
Since then however, he has been involved in Amnesty International Chile, both supporting its GLBTI Human Rights Commission and as a member of its board of directors.
In 2013 Raúl Martínez Quiroz helped setting up an experimental group to work in different social areas, based on the principle of human diversity and using a wide range of philanthropic interventions among people; this organisation is HOD Chile.

Apart from his activism and paid work as a teacher, Raul Martínez Quiroz loves photography. He thinks it is a good way to bring human and environmental issues to people's attention. One of his photography project under the name of PhotoActivism Sexual Diversity + Fusions.

At he Antwerp conference, Raúl Martínez Quiroz participated in the panel discussion on transitions and best practices.
