Anisul Islam Hero


Anisul Islam HeroAnisul Islam Hero (Bangladesh) studied at the Dolair Par High School and the Notre Dame College. He is a dancer, founded the Srishti Cultural Centre in 1994 to promote traditional classical dance, Bangladeshi folk dance as well as modern contemporary dance that reflect the cultural heritage of Bangladesh. Its aim is to increase the popularity of these forms of dances both in Bangladesh and abroad. Srishti also has a strong commitment to humanity and society, and its performances are guided by this intention in mind. The dancers have performed several times for the World and International AIDS Conferences to raise awareness in HIV/AIDS.

Anisul Islam Hero also founded and chairs the Bandhu Social Welfare Society, which aims at promoting sexual health and promotion of human rights of sexual minorities in Bangladesh.
He made a documentary film Reflection on gay stigma discrimination, violation of rights and health services to the local gay population.

Anisul Islam Hero has performed several times before World AIDS conferences and the International Co- ordination Committee for the Accounting Profession (ICCAP). He is a member of the International Dance Council of ITI Dhaka, the World Alliance Bangladesh chapter, and received awards for his work from Bachoshash (Bangladesh Cinema Journalists Association), CJFB (Cultural Journalists Forum of Bangladesh) and Uro-Binodon Bichitra.

Anisul Islam Hero participated in one of the panel discussions at the Antwerp conference.
