Albéric Akiteretse


Albéric AkiteretseAlbéric Akiteretse (Bujumbura, Burundi,1983) is in an asylum procedure in the Netherlands. He has been living in Europe for six years now, and has been fighting for equal rights for gays in his own country, where he founded the first Burundese organisation for that purpose, ARDHO (HUMURE). Now abroad, Albéric Akiteretse continued to fight for this cause and is working for several organisations in Africa and Europe. He is also the president of Why Me.

At the Antwerp conference, Albéric Akiteretse participated in the panel discussion on migration and safety.
